Privacy Policy

The short version: your test answers stay in your own browser, there's no account or email required, and we don't sell your data.

This Privacy Policy explains what information The Big Five Test ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you use thebig5test.com, and what we do with it. By using the site, you agree to this policy.

What we collect

Your test answers and results. When you take the test, your answers and the resulting scores are stored locally in your own web browser (using your browser's localStorage). They are not sent to us or stored on our servers. If you clear your browser data, or use a different device or browser, those results are gone.

No account, no email. You don't create an account or give us an email address to take the test or see your results. We don't ask for your name, contact details, or any other personal identifiers.

Standard technical logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This is used to operate and secure the site, and is not used to personally identify you.

Cookies and tracking

The test itself uses local storage, not cookies, to remember your most recent result on your device.

Analytics, only if you say yes. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful — how many visitors arrive, which pages they read, and roughly which country they're in. This sets Google's cookies, so we ask first. Analytics stay switched off until you choose "Allow" on the banner; if you decline, or ignore the banner entirely, no analytics cookies are set. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site ad tracking of any kind.

Your answers stay out of it. Google Analytics only ever sees which pages were visited. Your test answers and scores are never sent to it — they stay in your browser, and the "Share profile" button copies a plain link to the test, not your results.

Changed your mind? — the banner will ask again on the next page load.

Third-party services

  • Hosting. The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes the standard technical logs described above on our behalf.
  • Fonts. We load web fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests those font files from Google's servers, which means Google may receive your IP address as part of that request.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics, as described above, and only after you allow it.

We don't sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

Your results are yours

Because your results live in your browser, you're in control of them. You can retake the test, or clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data. Sharing a result (for example, the "Share profile" button) is always something you choose to do.

Children

The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be made clear.
